NBA Legend Bill Russell Arrested On Gun Charge

Several news outlets in Seattle report that 11-time NBA champion Bill Russell has been arrested on a gun charge.

According to KIRO-TV, KOMO-News, and KING-5 News, Russell was cited for carrying an armed .38-caliber handgun in his handbag at the Seattle-Tacoma airport. Russell, 79, was attempting to enter a flight out of Seattle.

Russell had a permit for the weapon, but will be charged with carrying a firearm in a prohibited area. He has been released from jail, and will have to pay a fine to the state of Washington.

Sounds like Russell forgot to unload his gun, and pack it in his checked luggage. Honestly, I can't see how Russell would be so stupid to pack a loaded gun on a carry-on and think it'd be okay.

What do you think? Honest mistake for a man that travels constantly? Or something else? Either way, he'll pay the monetary fine, and likely will put this escapade on the back burner.
