The countdown is on toward Monday at 3pm (CDT).

That's the deadline for the New Orleans Saints to sign Drew Brees before the franchise tag sticks to the Saints quarterback.

And, ESPN's Chris Mortensen says if the long-term contract doesn't happen, Brees doesn't plan to sign the franchise tender and won't report to training camp.

If the agreement isn't signed by Monday, the only way Brees could play would be to sign the franchise tender.
