The 7th-seeded Mississippi St. Bulldogs captured the 2012 SEC Baseball Tournament on Sunday, defeating the 5th-seeded Vanderbilt Commodores, 3-0, at Regions Park in Hoover, Alabama.

The Bulldogs, who tallied seven hits at the plate, were led by centerfielder Hunter Renfroe and catcher Mitch Slauter, who had two apiece.

Ross Mitchell (2-0) got the win for Mississippi St., pitching five innings of relief, while Tyler Beede (1-5) suffered the loss for the Commodores.

With the loss, Vanderbilt fell to 33-26, while Mississippi St., who improved to 39-22, secured themselves an automatic NCAA Regional bid.
