LSU fans won't soon forget the drubbing that took place on Saturday night at Tiger Stadium at the hands of Mississippi State. But it's the kicking that took place on the field that had head coach Les Miles talking on Monday.

Mississippi State center Dillon Day was caught on video more than once during the game stomping on LSU defenders. One time he leaped up and stomped hard on defensive tackle Davon Godchaux's stomach and the groin of cornerback Rashard Robinson. The latter caused his removal from the game.

Yesterday, the Southeastern Conference suspended Day for one game due to his actions. He will miss the team's next game against Texas A&M on October 4th.

This is the not the first time this player has been involved in unsportsmanlike conduct. Day was suspended for the start of a game against Troy last year after stomping on an Auburn player.

"This action is the result of multiple flagrant and unsportsmanlike acts during the game, as well as previous disciplinary action for similar behavior," the conference's press release read.

Day is actually defending his actions, saying that he's been "wrongfully accused". He claims his momentum carried him into both players as he was attempting to finish the play.

"You never know when the ball-carrier will break loose and you can make another block or if a fumble may happen," Day wrote in a letter to Mississippi State fans, which he shared on Twitter. "It is essential to follow the ball. In the two clips, you can see I am doing just that."

The "stomping" incidents have dampened the happy mood in Starkville just a tad. This was the first win for Mississippi State in Baton Rouge since 1991.
