Minneapolis Awarded Super Bowl 52, Twitter Reacts
Minneapolis beats out New Orleans and Indianapolis for the right to host Super Bowl LII (that’s 52 for those of us not versed in the Roman Numeral system). New Orleans was hoping to host the big game for a record 11th time. Minneapolis hosted the Super Bowl in 1992, and are currently building a new indoor stadium. Without the new stadium plan, Minneapolis may not have the Vikings, much less a Super Bowl.
In the last 10 years, 8 cities with new stadiums made a bid to host a Super Bowl. All 8 times they’ve been awarded American’s biggest sporting event.
While the game will be played inside, the city is sure to be freezing. After all, Minneapolis and St. Paul have experienced temperatures in early February that register at -22, with a wind chill of -43.
Here is how some Louisiana sports personalities and other sports writers reacted on twitter to the news.
For Saints fans that believe no team will EVER play in a Super Bowl hosting in their own city, this is a win. For the state of Louisiana, this is a loss.
