Mike Hamilton, the Tennessee Athletic Director who presided over a football and men's basketball program under NCAA investigation, has resigned his position.

In a story on espn.com, Hamilton said he was resigning so the Vols would have a "clean slate" when they appear before the NCAA Committee on Infractions later this week.

Hamilton will still appear before the Committee, joining former Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin, former men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl, UT-Knoxville Chancellor Jimmy Cheek and other Tennessee officials.

He will receive a 1.3 million dollar buyout over three years plus other perks.
