Midland Advances, While St. Thomas More & Lafayette Christian Fall In Top 28
The Midland Rebels were victorious in their Class B semifinal match-up on Wednesday, while the St. Thomas More Cougars and the Lafayette Christian Knights lost their in respective classes, during play in the Boys’ Top 28 at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.
Midland, the number two-seed, defeated third-seeded Anacoco, 55-38, and will play for the Class B state crown on Friday, at 6 o’clock, against fourth-seeded Fairview, who defeated top-seeded Florien, 60-56.
St. Thomas More, the number four-seed in the Class 4A bracket, fell to top-seeded Landry/Walker, 62-50, on Wednesday evening.
The 11th-seeded Northside Vikings, the other Acadiana area team in the bracket, will play in the other Class 4A semifinal on Thursday night, against second-seeded East Jefferson, with the winner moving on to play Landry/Walker for the state title on Saturday at 8 o’clock.

In the Class A semifinals, second-seeded Lafayette Christian fell to third-seeded Madison Prep, 61-50.
Madison Prep will take on fourth-seeded Metairie Park Country Day, who eliminated top-seeded Arcadia, 53-46, for the state championship on Saturday.
In Class 5A, the state title game, on Saturday night, will feature top-seeded Scotlandville and second-seeded Natchitoches Central.
The semifinals in the Class 3A bracket are set for Thursday, with second-seeded Bossier taking on third-seeded University Lab, and fourth-seeded Richwood squaring off with 8th-seeded Donaldsonville.
The Class 2A semifinals are also scheduled Thursday, with top-seeded Riverside Academy meeting 28th-seeded North Caddo, and second-seeded Lakeview taking on 14th-seeded St. James.
Finally, In Class C, second-seeded New Living Word will meet fourth-seeded Sicily Island for the state crown on Friday.
