Watch, as a student at the University of Michigan misses out on winning $10,000 by a mere half-second.

Sophomore Michael Miller was picked to participate in a contest during last Saturday's college basketball game between the Michigan Wolverines and the SMU Mustangs.

To win the money, Miller had to make four shots, including a layup, a free throw, a three-point shot, and a half-court shot, all in :30 or less.

Miller made the layup, but then missed his first free throw attempt, which cost him some time.

He rebounded however, hitting his second free throw attempt, before nailing his three-point shot.

That gave him an opportunity to win the cash, and it looked like he did just that, sinking his first attempt from mid-court, sending the crowd into a frenzy. But replay officials determined that Miller made the shot a half-second late, and denied him the money.

I get that rules are rules, and that the $10,000 isn't my money, but why not give him the money, get some good PR, and change the rules to where you simply can't miss a shot, instead of using a clock?
