The Michigan Wolverines won the second game of the Women’s College World Series championship series, defeating the Florida Gators, 1-0, at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to even up the championship series.

The best-of-three game series is now knotted up, 1-1, with the third and decisive game scheduled for Wednesday night at 7 o'clock (central time)

Florida, the top-seed in the tournament, and the defending national champions, needs to win to become the first team to repeat as national champs since the Arizona Wildcats in the 2006-2007 seasons, while Michigan, the third-seed, needs to win to capture their national title since 2005.

Haylie Wagner was the story of the game, as the senior left-hander threw a six-hit shutout for Michigan, not allowing a walk, while striking out five hitters.

Wagner improved her record to 25-4 with the victory, as Michigan captured their 29th win in their last 30 games, while handing Florida their first loss in this year's WCWS.

The Wolverines scored the first and only run of the game in the bottom half of the first inning, when Sierra Romero singled, and later scored on a one-out single off the bat of Kelsey Susalla, giving them a 1-0 lead.

That was enough for Wagner, who increased her consecutive number of innings pitched without allowing an earned run in the WCWS to 20.

Sierra Romero led the way at the plate for Michigan, who was outhit by Florida, 6-4, going 2-for-3, while scoring the only run of the game.

Lauren Haeger, the 2105 USA Player of the Year, paced the Gators in a losing cause, going 2-for-3.

Haeger was also the hard-luck losing pitcher for Florida, only her second in 33 decisions, allowing four hits and one run over six innings.
