The New York Mets and the Toronto Blue Jays were victorious in Major League Baseball playoff action on Wednesday.

The Mets qualified for their first World Series appearance since 2000 by defeating the Chicago Cubs, 8-3, and completing a four-game sweep in the best-of-seven game National League Championship Series.

Meanwhile, in the American League Championship Series, the Toronto Blue Jays reamin alive, after defeating the Kansas City Royals, 7-1, in game five, to cut the Royals lead in the series to 3-2:
