Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns guard Bryant Mbamalu capped a magical 24 hours today by being named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.

Mbamalu, a senior from Houston, Texas, made his final game in the Cajundome a memorable one.  Mbamalu scored a career high 32 points, notched his first career double double by adding eleven rebounds and became the 42nd player in Ragin' Cajuns history to score 1,000 points in his career in leading Louisiana (19-10, 10-6 Sun Belt) to a 102-74 thrashing of South Alabama Sunday afternoon in the Cajundome.

Mbamalu reached the plateau despite missing the first twelve games of the season with a broken bone in his foot.  His two free throws with 1:58 remaining got him to the 1,000 point mark. The senior has also been a leader in the classroom, sporting a team best 3.8 GPA in the fall semester.

The Cajuns have won seven of their last eight games and now take to the road to face Western Kentucky and Arkansas State in their final games of the regular season.

Louisiana currently is in third place in the Sun Belt, one game behind Western Kentucky and one-half game over Arkansas State.
