The 21st-ranked LSU Tigers won their 2015-2016 regular season opener on Friday night, defeating the McNeese St. Cowboys, 81-70, at the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge.

Leading, 34-27, at the 2:25 mark of the first half, LSU scored the last 7 points of the half, to take a 41-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Tigers then scored the first 20 points of the second half, making it 27-unanswered points, as they cruised to the 11-point win.

LSU outshot McNeese St. from the field 46%/39%, while also finishing with a 46-39 rebounding advantage.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Antonio Blakeney, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds, while fellow freshman Ben Simmons added 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

In a losing cause for McNeese St., Jamaya Burr finished with 18 points, while Craig McFerrin had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

With the victory, the Tigers are 1-0 on the young season, while the Cowboys are 0-1.

LSU plays host to Kennesaw St. on Monday night, while McNeese St. hosts Louisiana College on Tuesday night.

LSU hosts Kennesaw State on Monday.
