The seventh-ranked LSU Tigers will be in a do-or-die situation on Monday evening, when they take on the Houston Cougars in the championship game of the Baton Rouge, La. Regional at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

Houston, the #2-seed in the regional, forced the "if necessary" game by winning two games on Sunday, eliminating Southeastern Louisiana, 9-5, before rallying from a 4-0 deficit to defeat LSU in ten innings, 5-4, to secure a spot in Monday night's game.

LSU, the top-seed in the regional, will head into the match-up at 46-15-1 on the season.

The Tigers, the #6-overall national seed, had their 10-game win streak snapped in that one-run loss to the Cougars on Sunday, after defeating Southeastern Louisiana on Friday, 8-4, and Houston on Saturday, 5-1.

Houston will enter the contest will an overall record of 47-16. They opened up regional play downing Bryant, 3-2, in ten innings, before losing to LSU, 5-1, and then capturing the two wins on Sunday.

LSU is currently hitting a .288 as a team, along with 41 home runs, 359 runs batted in, and 47 stolen bases.

The Tigers are led, offensively, by Andrew Stevenson, who is hitting a .335, while Alex Bregman and Conner Hale are both at a .311.

Houston is currently hitting a .277 as a team, along with 17 home runs, 274 runs batted in, and 83 stolen bases.

The Cougars are paced by senior first baseman Casey Grayson and sophomore outfielder Kyle Survance, who are hitting a .323 and a .321, respectively.

Pitching-wise, LSU brings brings in a 2.44 team earned run average into the game, while Houston is at a 2.30.

First-pitch is scheduled for 7 o’clock.

The winner advances to an NCAA Super Regional.
