Perhaps LSU was looking ahead to their SEC road matchup next week against Florida, but the Tigers overcame their sloppiness to defeat a scrappy Towson team by the score of 38-22 on Saturday night.

Zach Mettenberger was 15 of 26 for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also fumbled when pressured from behind. It marked one of 3 LSU turnovers.

Odell Beckham Jr. was the favorite Tiger target, reeling in 5 receptions for 128 yards and 2 scores.

For the first time this season, LSU failed to produce a 100 yard rusher. Collectively, the Tigers ran for 158 yards and 3 TDs. Their leading rusher was Russell Shepard who only ran one time and scored the first points of the ballgame on a 78 yard end around early in the first quarter.

Towson was able to move the ball in the first half, taking a surprising 9-7 lead more than halfway through the 2nd quarter. Running back Terrance West scored his first of two TDs with 5:15 left in the first half. LSU scored 24 unanswered after that, but were given a short field twice (once on a punt return fumble, another on a 6 yard shanked punt).

In the end, #3LSU grabbed a 38-22 victory, their 5th of the year as they remain undefeated. However, their performance will need to be much better next week in Gainesville when they take on the 11th ranked Florida Gators. Kickoff next Saturday is set for 2:30.
