The LSU Tigers faced an in-state school in Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday as they opened their home schedule at Tiger Stadium and took care of business 31-0.

It was a quick start for the Tigers as they forced a turnover on the Lions first drive of the game when Devin White stripped running back Darren Johnson and LSU recovered. From there it was quarterback Joe Burrow to rookie receiver Ja'Marr Chase twice and the second was for his first career touchdown from nine yards out. 7-0 Tigers.

After another Southeastern punt, it was more from Joe Burrow as he ripped off a 13-yard run before he decided to keep a read-option play for a one-yard touchdown. 14-0 Tigers.

The Lions had a little something going towards the end of the 2nd quarter but a costly mistake took them out of field goal range and the Tigers would take advantage. With five seconds remaining and on the cusp of field goal range (57 yards and a 17-0 lead), offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger decided to give Joe Burrow a chance. Burrow uncorked a ball about 60 yards into the end zone as time expired and it was brought down by 6'6 wide receiver Stephen Sullivan for the score. A big boost for LSU as they increased their lead to 24-0.

The second half was dominated by Southeastern but they were unable to come away with any points as an interception nearing the red-zone and a botched snap from the LSU 5 dismantled drives.

For the Tigers, it was a very underwhelming and conservative game plan as they had a 24-0 lead and increased it to 31-0 when JaCoby Stevens scooped up a botched snap and returned it 64 yards to the 18-yard line. The put LSU in a position to pound the ball into the end zone and they did when Clyde Edwards-Helaire scampered in from 7 yards out.

LSU Football moves to 2-0 with the win and will travel to Auburn to take on their first SEC opponent of the season next Saturday at 2:30 pm.
