After opening the season with a 37-27 win over a top 20 team from the Big 12, LSU welcomed UAB to Tiger Stadium Saturday night for a home opener. If you're a Tiger fan, LSU gave you plenty of smile about, especially Odell Beckham Jr. (pictured above), who proplled LSU to a dominating 56-17 victory.

Beckham Jr. scored 4 touchdowns on the night, 3 receiving, and 1 one a 109 yard missed field goal return. Add up Beckham's receiving yards (136 on 5 receptions), return yards (189), and rushing yards (15), and Beckham accounted for an awesome 340 total yards.

Tiger quarterback Zach Mettenberger was comfortable and accurate. Without an effective UAB pass rush, Mettenberger picked apart the Blazer defense on 16-19 passing, for 282 yards and 5 touchdowns. 3 to Beckham Jr., and 2 to Jarvis Landry (5 rec., 71 yards). In all, 9 different Tigers caught a pass Saturday night.

LSU was just as effective on the ground, grinding out 152 yards and 2 TDs. Kenny Hilliard led the Tigers in rushing with 54 yards and a score, while Jeremy Hill (pictured left) returned from a one-game suspension to score a TD on his first carry.

Defensively, LSU struggled with defending the halfback screen, and had a poor 2nd quarter (UAB scored all 17 points in 2nd). For the other 3 quarters, LSU's defense harassed UAB. The Tiger defense pressured Blazer quarterback Austin Brown from start to finish. Defensive ends Jermauria Rasco and Jordan Allen each had a sack, spending plenty of time in UAB's backfield Saturday night.

With the victory, LSU improves to 2-0. Next Saturday night, LSU plays host to the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-1), who lost to Bowling Green today 41-22.
