Canada? LSU Football? Well, at least they'd be comfortable apologizing for poor performances right? All kidding aside, the LSU Tigers appears to be closing in on a new offensive coordinator. His name is Matt Canada and he is the current O.C. at the University of Pittsburgh.

LSU had previously been linked to a possible hire of Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. That's not going to happen and a lot of the LSU faithful are actually glad it didn't and most likely won't because Kiffin is now the head man at Florida Atlantic University.

According to a report published by NOLA.com and the Times-Picayune newspaper sources close to selection process suggest that the 44-year-old Canada is the primary focus of the LSU search.

Canada's resume includes stops at North Carolina State, Wisconsin,Butler, and Northern Illinois. His current deal with Pittsburgh remains rather cloudy in regards to buyouts or restrictions. Chances are if Canada is the man Coach Orgeron wants, the Tigers will find the money to get him.

Coach Canada's offensive resume is anything but offensive. He has improved the programs wherever he has coached. For the Tiger faithful any improvement in the current offensive climate of the LSU program would be a major improvement.

Sources close to the search are suggesting that an announcement of Canada as the new LSU O.C. could come sometime this week. If for some reason a deal can't be reached many pundits believe the LSU search will continue beyond the Christmas season the Citrus Bowl game on New Year's Day.
