LSU Falls On Road To Charleston, 70-58
The LSU Tigers fell on the road on Monday night, dropping a 70-58 non-conference match-up to the Charleston Cougars in Charleston, South Carolina.
The loss was the third-straight for LSU, following a season-opening three-game win streak.
It was all Charleston in the first half, as the Cougars went on a 28-7 run over the last 13:40, to take a 39-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Charleston outshot LSU in the first half, 49%/24%, while also nailing 5-of-10 three-point field goal attempts.
The Cougars extended that lead to 24 points, their largest of the game, 41-17, at the 19:40 mark of the second half.
That deficit proved too much for LSU to overcome, as the Tigers cut the Charleston lead to 7 points, 63-56, with 1:09 left, but that was as close as they'd get, as the Cougars went on to the 12-point win.
Charleston ended the game outshooting LSU from the field, 39%/31%, while also finishing with a 47/46 rebound advantage.
Canyon Barry led the way for the Cougars, finishing with 19 points and 3 rebounds, while Cameron Johnson added 13 points and 6 rebounds.
In a losing cause for the Tigers, Ben Simmons had 15 points and 18 rebounds, while Tim Quarterman accumulated 14 and 4, respectively.
With the victory, Charleston improved to 4-2 on the young season, while LSU dropped to 3-3.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday night, when they host North Florida.
