Today is "Tharold Simon Day" in Eunice. The standout LSU cornerback and Eunice native is projected to be drafted in the second or third round of tonight's NFL draft.

Our close friend Ian Auzenne at KATC reports that Simon was arrested last night in Eunice for allegedly resisting an officer, as well as public intimidation and a noise violation. Simon's car was reportedly blocking a busy street, causing the arresting officer to confront Simon.

According to the report, Simon told the officer, "I own Eunice," and "I'm gonna buy these projects and you are gonna be mine," (sic) before finally moving his vehicle. The officer noted in the report that Simon spun his wheels and "backed the vehicle in an aggressive manner" and turned his radio "all the way up" while moving his car.

On the above date I detective ___________ observed a vehicle parked in a manner as to obstruct the roadway on S. Beulah St. I pulled my patrol car up to the vehicle and the driver walked outside. I recognized him to be Mr. Tharold D. Simon. I asked him to park his car in the parking space provided for the apartment complex. This is the second time in two days I have asked him to move his vehicle from the roadway. He stated something to the effect of:  I own Eunice, I got millions N***A. I'm gonna buy these projects and you are gonna be gone. I told him again to remove the vehicle from the roadway. He entered the vehicle and turned the radio up all the way, backed the vehicle in an aggressive manner causing the tires to lose traction and make a screeching noise. He pulled the vehicle into the drive way and sat there with the door open with the music still over the legal volume for Eunice City Ordinance listed above. I told him to turn the music down or I was going to issue him a citation for the violation and he said something to the effect of : The mayor is on my side, you write me a ticket and you're gone. I called for a unite with a citation book to come to the scene to assist me. I advised him he was being placed under arrest for public intimidation for telling me he was going to have me fired if I write him a ticket. I grabbed his arem to place him in hand restraints. He violently jerked his hand away from me and said don't touch me.  I signaled over the emergency radio for an additional unit to come to my location because the subject was resisting arrest. I then advised him he was under arrest again and painted him with my x-26 taser and ordered him to put his hands behind his back. He complied at this time. Ptm. Chase Godeaux arrived and transported Mr. Simon to the police station where I issued a summons for the city ordinance violation unnecessary noise and completed the booking paperwork on the remaining charges listed above.
