The 19th-ranked LSU Tigers kept their early season perfect record intact on Thursday, defeating the South Alabama Jaguars 78-66, at the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, La.

The non-conference win, the 11th-straight for LSU, marked the local round of the Legends Classic.

Winning for the 16th-straight time under head coach Johnny Jones, when shooting 50 percent from the field, LSU built a 12-point halftime advantage and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.

LSU outshot South Alabama from the floor, 51%-40%, while the Jaguars outrebounded the Tigers, 39-37.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Bill Simmons, who finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds, while fellow freshman Antonio Blakeney had 22 points.

In a losing cause for the Jaguars, Nick Stover finished with 13 points.

With the victory, LSU improved to 3-0, while South Alabama fell to 1-2.

The Tigers now head to Brooklyn, New York on Monday for a game against Marquette at the Barclays Center in the first semifinal of the championship round.

North Carolina St. and Arizona St. play later in the evening, with LSU playing one of those two teams on Tuesday night.
