LSU woke up Saturday morning with plenty to play for.

It was Senior Day in Baton Rouge, as the Tigers were hosting the Florida Gators in a game previously scheduled to be played in Gainesville earlier in the season.

If the Tigers could win two games in 5 days (vs Florida and at Texas A&M), they'd be set up for a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

With so much to play for, LSU stumbled, fumbled and sloppily gave the game to the Gators.

LSU outgained Florida 423-270. LSU won the time of possession battle 34:02-25:58. LSU finished with 23 first downs. Florida finished with 13.

"That's probably the worst we played since we started our new season," said LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron.

What went wrong? A lot.

Most notably, the Tigers red zone offense.

With 5 trips inside the Gators 10 yard line, LSU finished with a touchdown, turnover, botched field goal attempt, field goal, and a turnover on downs.

"We didn't put them away when we had chances to do it," noted Orgeron.

Despite their red zone inefficiency, LSU was one yard away from a game-winning touchdown with 3 seconds left in the game. Quarterback Danny Etling pitched to Derrius Guice, who initially went the wrong way. After readjusting his feet, Guice attempted to leap over the goal line, but it was too late as he was turned away by the Florida defense, capping off a brutal day for the Tigers.

Orgeron desperately needed the win for his resume in hoping to become the full time head coach moving forward. Today's defeat puts his chances in jeopardy.

"This is a tough loss," said Orgeron.

With the loss, LSU falls to 6-4 overall, 4-3 in SEC play.

With the win, Florida improves to 8-2, 6-2 in SEC play, and clinch the SEC East, punching their ticket to the SEC Championship game in two weeks for a matchup with #1 Alabama.

LSU wraps up their regular season Thankgiving night at #25 Texas A&M. Kickoff is set for 6:30.
