The third-ranked LSU Tiger baseball team picked-up an SEC home victory on Friday evening, defeating the Georgia Bulldogs, 6-5, in the opening game of a three-game, weekend series.

Shortstop Austin Nola blasted a two-run homer in the bottom half of the eight inning to lift the Tigers to the victory.

Outfielder Raph Rhymes paced LSU at the plate, going 3-for-4, with a run scored.

Chris Cotton (5-0) got the win out of the LSU bullpen, with Nick Goody recording his 8th save of the year, while Bryan Benzor (4-4) suffered the loss for the Bulldogs.

With the win, LSU improved to 34-9 overall, and 13-6 in SEC play, while Georgia fell to 24-19 overall, and 8-11 in league play.
