LSU Batters WKU 48-20, Fournette Ties School Record

Fifth ranked LSU (7-0, 4-0 in SEC) remains undefeated after defeating WKU in a non-conference matchup by the score of 48-20 on Saturday night in a wet Tiger Stadium.

Leonard Fournette rushed for 150 yards on 26 carries and a touchdown in the win, tying him in the school record books for consecutive 100+ yard games with Charles Alexander.

Fournette has been so good this year, his 150 yards was actually a single game low this season, but still very effective.

Through the air, Tigers quarterback Brandon Harris finished 11 of 20 for 286 yards and 3 touchdowns, dealing with the damp field and rainy conditions.

"Early on, the weather conditions were terrible," said LSU coach Les Miles. "If it had stayed that way, nobody would've had success in the air. It turned out to be a pretty nice night...I guess what I'm saying is I don't think that (weather conditions) effected our throwing late in the game."

Tiger receivers Travin Dural (5 receptions, 132 yards), Malachi Dupree (3 receptions, 86 yards) and Tyron Johnson (1 reception, 61 yards) all scored 1 touchdown a piece.

Defensively, LSU held WKU's high powered offensive attack to 20 points, leaning on a strong performance from safety Jamal Adams.

Adams led the team with 11 tackles, 1 interception and a forced fumble on special teams.

Speaking of special teams, the Hilltoppers did recover a surprise onside kick in the 4th quarter, adding another negative highlight to a season with plenty of them for the Tiger special teams unit. However, outside of the onside, Miles was pleased with the improvement in that phase of the game.

"I thought special teams was really pretty good, minus the onside kick," said Miles. "We improved in a number of areas tonight."

LSU now heads into the bye week before a showdown in Tuscaloosa against #8 Alabama (7-1, 4-1 in SEC) on November 7th.

What will the Tigers do with a day off next Saturday?

"I don't think relaxing is what's going to happen but I think they'll enjoy a weekend without a game...getting some fresh legs and health back is just what the doctor ordered."

A victory over Alabama would be a good prescription for increasing LSU's chances of punching a ticket to the college football playoff.
