The seventh-ranked LSU Tigers won their first game in the Baton Rouge, La. Regional on Friday afternoon, defeating the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, 8-4, at Alex Box Stadium.

LSU, the top-seed in the regional, and the #8-overall national seed, rallied from a 4-2 deficit with two runs in the seventh inning, and four in the eighth, to capture their ninth-consecutive win.

Trailing 4-2 going to the bottom half of the seventh, LSU shortstop Alex Bregman was hit by a pitch, before designated hitter Sean McMullen walked with one out. Catcher Kade Scivicque then singled, driving home Bregman, before Tyler Moore singled to left field, scoring McMullen, and knotting the game at 4-4.

The Tigers then plated four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Christian Ibarra singled, went to third on a Mark Laird single of the game put runners on the corners, and a scored on an errant pick-off attempt, to give them a 5-4 advantage.

After Laird scored on a Bregman grounded out, Jake Fraley belted a two-run homer, to make it 8-4, a lead which held up, as the Tigers went on to the four-run win.

Nate Fury (3-1) picked up the win for the Tigers out of the bullpen, while Dylan Hills (6-4) suffered the loss for the Lions.

With the victory, LSU improved to 45-14-1, while Southeastern Louisiana fell to 37-24.
