The seventh-ranked LSU Tigers opens up NCAA Regional play on Friday afternoon, when they take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lions in the first day of play in the Baton Rouge, La. Regional at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

LSU, the top-seed in the regional, will head into the match-up at 44-14-1 on the season.

The Tigers, the #6-overall national seed, will bring an eight-game win streak into the game, after capturing the postseason SEC Tournament last weekend.

Southeastern Louisiana, the #4-seed in the regional, won the postseason Southland Conference Tournament last weekend, and will enter the contest will an overall record of 37-23.

LSU is currently hitting a .286 as a team, along with 38 home runs, 345 runs batted in, and 45 stolen bases.

The Tigers are led, offensively, by Andrew Stevenson, who is hitting a .328, and Conner Hale, who is hitting a .314.

Southeastern Louisiana is currently hitting a .291 as a team, along with 14 home runs, 308 runs batted in, and 77 stolen bases.

The Lions are paced by sophomore catcher Jameson Fisher and junior outfielder Andrew Godbold, who are hitting a .394 and a .348, respectively.

Pitching-wise, LSU brings brings in a 2.42 team earned run average into the game, while Southeastern Louisiana is at a 2.95.

The ace for the Tigers is junior right-hander Aaron Nola, who is 10-1 on the season, with a 1.49 earned run average, while freshman left-hander Jared Poche' is currently 9-1 with a 2.21 ERA.

The Lions feature Andrew junior right-hander Andro Cutura, who is 10-2 on the year, along with a 1.72 ERA., with sophomore right-hander Tate Scioneaux is 7-6 with a 3.11 ERA.

LSU defeated Southeastern La., 7-3, back on February 19 in Hammond.

First-pitch is scheduled for 2 o'clock.

The winner advances to play on Saturday at 7 pm, against the winner of the Houston/Bryant game, while the losers of the respective games will will in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.
