The second-ranked LSU Tiger baseball team opens up SEC play on Friday evening, as they travel to Starkville, Mississippi, to take on the 8th-ranked Mississippi St. Bulldogs, in the opening game of a three-game weekend, SEC series.

LSU is currently 16-1 on the season, while Mississippi St. stands at 18-2.

The Bulldogs lead the overall series with the Tigers, 199-170-1, in a series that dates back to 1905. Last year, the LSU won a three-game series in Baton Rouge, before Mississippi St. won two game against LSU in the SEC Tournament.

The Tigers have  won 13 of the last 20 meetings over the Bulldogs, as well as six straight regular-season series wins

Pitching Matchups for the series has LSU throwing sophomore right-hander Aaron Nola (2-0, 2.77 ERA) against Mississippi St. sophomore left-hander Jacob Lindgren (2-0, 0.96 ERA) in the Friday night opener, with LSU junior right-hander Ryan Eades (3-0, 1.80) going up against Mississippi St. junior right-hander Evan Mitchell (0-0, 2.30) on Saturday, and Tigers sophomore left-hander Cody Glenn (3-0, 0.73) facing Bulldogs senior right-hander Kendall Graveman (1-1, 2.61) on Sunday.

Game times are 6:30 pm on Friday night, 6 o'clock on Saturday night, and 1:30 on Sunday afternoon.
