The seventh ranked LSU Tigers returns to the diamond on Friday evening, playing host to the Purdue Boilermakers in the opening game of a three-game, weekend, non-conference series, at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

This will mark the final non-conference series before the start of SEC play for LSU, who opens up league play March 14, in Nashville, Tennessee, against Vanderbilt.

The Tigers, who defeated Northwestern St., 6-2, in non-conference play on Thursday, are 9-2 on the year, while Purdue will come in at 1-7.

LSU is currently hitting a .309 as a team, along with six home runs, 72 runs batted in, and 10 stolen bases. The Tigers are led, offensively, by Kade Scivicque, who is hitting a .429 with one homer and six RBI's, and Sean McMullen, who has a team-high 10 runs batted in.

Purdue is currently hitting a .199 as a team, along with one home runs, 12 runs batted in, and four stolen bases. The Boilermakers are paced by Kyle Wood and Sean McHugh, who are hitting a .357 and a .300, respectively.

Pitching-wise, the Tigers bring in a 1.60 team earned run average into the series, with right-hander Aaron Nola, who will start on Friday night, leading the way, with a 3-0 record, and an ERA. of 0.00.

The Boilermakers, who currently have an overall 9.14 ERA., have only one pitcher that has started a game this season with an ERA. of under 16.20.

Game times are 7 o'clock on Friday night, 6:30 pm on Saturday evening, and 1 pm on Sunday afternoon.
