The fourth-ranked LSU Tiger won their 2012 home finale on Tuesday night, defeating the Nicholls St. Colonels, 9-6, in their final non-conference game of the regular season, at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge.

The Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning, and never looked back, en route to the three-run win, surviving a four-run ninth inning by the Colonels.

Shortstop Austin Nola led the way for LSU at the plate, going 4-for-4, with two runs scored, while first baseman Mason Katz collected two hits, including a homer, while driving home four runs.

Sophomore right-hander Kurt McCune (3-4) picked-up the win on the hill for the Tigers, while senior left-hander Mike Wisecarver (1-7) suffered the loss for the Colonels.

With the win, LSU improved to 40-13 on the year, while Nicholls St. dropped to 25-26.

LSU closes out their regular season schedule Thursday-Saturday, when they travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks, in a three-game, SEC series.
