Louisiana High School Football Playoff Brackets Released

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association released their 2012 high school playoff pairings on Sunday, and as always, the Acadiana area is well represented.

In class 5A, Archbishop Rummel is the top seed. Lafayette High is seed #32, and will take on Rummel on the road in the opening round. New Iberia, who is the 12th-seed, will play host to #21 Scotlandville in opening round play, while Acadiana, the # 14 seed, will host #19 Zachary, with 28th-seeded Carencro traveling to # 5 Cathlolic of Baton Rouge.

In class 4A, Neville is the top seed, and will host St. Louis in opening round action. Acadiana area teams in the quad-A bracket include 4th-seeded Teurlings, who will host #29 Woodlawn-Shreveport, #7 St. Thomas More, who entertains #26 Warren Easton, #17 Breaux Bridge, who will travel to #16 Plaquemine, #28 Northside is on the road to take on 5th-seeded Salmon, and #30 St. Martinville meets 3rd-seeded Lutcher.

In class 3A, Parkview Baptist gets the top seed, and will host #32 Erath in opening round playoff action. A number of triple-A teams from the Acadiana area will be hosting opening round playoff games. They include 2nd-seeded Notre Dame against #31 Patterson, 3rd-seeded Eunice against #30 Lusher Charter, 6th-seed Rayne against #28 Church Point, 10th-seeded North Vermilion against #23 Avoyelles, and 13th-seeded Jennings against Bogulusa. 29th-seeded Kaplan will take to the road to meet #4 Loranger.

John Curtis, is the #1-seed in the class 2A bracket, and will host #32 Pope John Paul II in opening round play. Acadiana area teams include 14th-seed Loreauville, who will host #19 Ville Platte, 7th-seeded Catholic-New Iberia, who will host #26 Mansfield, and 18th-seeded Lake Arthur, who will travel to #15 Rosepine.

In class 1A, Ouachita Christian secures the top seed, and will host #32 Sacred Heart in opening round action. Acadiana area school in the single-A bracket include 3rd-seeded Vermilion Catholic, who will host #30 St. Martin's Episcopal, 10th-seeded Westminster Christian, who will host #23 Ascension Catholic, 13th-seeded Basile, who will entertain #20 Elton, 19-seeded Central Catholic-Morgan City, who will travel to meet #14 Cedar Creek, 21st-seeded St. Edmund, who will be on the road to take on #12 Metairie Park Country Day, and 27th-seeded Opelousas Catholic, who will travel to meet #6 West St. John.
