Jeff Fisher, who spent many seasons coaching the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans, is primed to become the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams, according to espn.com.

Fisher looked to be headed to Miami at one time, but negotiations broke down over the authority structure of the franchise.

Fisher will inherit a former #1 overall pick at quarterback in Sam Bradford.  St. Louis will also have the #2 overall pick in the NFL draft in April and has money to spend under the salary cap.

Fisher was 142-120 with the Oilers/Titans.  His teams won at least 12 games on four occasions.
