Lincecum No-Hits Padres, 9-0
Former Cy Young Award Winner Tim Lincecum has lost 24 games in the last season and a half.
But he was a big winner Saturday night.
The Giants right hander threw the majors’ second no-hitter in the last two weeks as the San Francisco Giants whitewashed the San Diego Padres, 9-0.
Lincecum (5-9) lost 15 games last year and was out of the starting rotation in the 2012 postseason, but he was in command from the beginning on Saturday, striking out 13 while throwing a whopping 148 pitches.
It was the first no-hitter of Lincecum’s career. He has won two Cy Young Awards.
Ironically, Lincecum was the losing pitcher just eleven days ago when Cincinnati’s Homer Bailey no-hit the Giants.
Giants outfielder Hunter Pence saved the no-no with a spectacular diving catch of a sinking line drive off the bat of Alexi Amarista.
The Padres have now lost 18 of their last 21 games.
