Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun catcher Lexie Elkins leads the nation in home runs after three weeks of play in the 2016 college softball season.

The senior from Victoria, Texas, who set a school record with 32 homers in 2015, has hit 11 in 15 games this year.

Nebraska junior infielder Marjani Knighten, along with North Carolina St. junior outfielder Tyler Ross, and BYU freshman catcher Libby Sugg, are tied for second place, with 8 homers each, three behind Elkins.

Troy senior catcher Hannah Day is among a group of four players with 7 homers each, 4 behind Elkins.

In the runs batted in department, Elkins has 26, which puts her in a third-place tie, 4 behind the leader, Ali Aguilar, of Washington, who has 30.

As a team Louisiana is hitting a .378, which ranks 6th in the country, along with 28 home runs, which ranks 3rd, while averaging 8.93 runs-per-game, which currently ranks 5th.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns have an overall, combined, team ERA. of 1.73, which ranks tied for 13th in the nation.
