Louisiana Ragin' Cajun catcher Lexie Elkins leads the nation in home runs after two weeks of play.

The senior from Victoria, Texas, who set a school record with 32 homers in 2015, has hit 8 in 9 games in the young 2016 season.

Hannah Day, from another Sun Belt Conference school, Troy, along with New Mexico St. designated player Kelsey Horton, and Nebraska junior infielder Marjani Knighten, are tied for second place, with 6 homers each, two behind Elkins.

In the runs batted in department, Elkins has 18, which puts her in a third-place tie, 7 behind the leader, Natalie Hampton, of Oregon St., who has 25.

As a team Louisiana has 18 home runs, which ranks tied for third, overall, but leads the nation in home runs-per-game, at 2.00.
