Lewis Cook and the Notre Dame Pioneers win championships. It's the goal every season, and 2016 is no different than 2015, when they brought a trophy back to Crowley.

Coach Cook's coaching experience spans more than four decades. He knows last year's success doesn't make this year any easier. Talent graduates, injuries occur and other changes necessitate adjustments.

The Pios have a new quarterback in Bryant Thavis, but their offense won't change much. Suffocating defense is a staple at Notre Dame, and they added one of the best defensive linemen in the Country, Tyler Shelvin, in the offseason.

Shelvin is an LSU recruit with competing offers from Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and countless other heavy hitters. ESPN ranks him 18th in their "ESPN 300" and he's considered the top recruit in the state of Louisiana by several different outlets. Notre Dame's defense was already going to be good, now it's terrifying.

It's another year for the Pioneers, but the goals remain the same. Can they repeat their run to the Superdome?

Coach Cook stopped by "The Cheap Seats" (Monday-Friday, 6-7 pm on ESPN 1420) to preview the 2016 season, and he identified some leaders on offense and defense and talked about the adjustments he made during the offseason. We ended the conversation with a message to the fans.
