The pirate is back in college football.

Mike Leach, the former head coach at Texas Tech, has agreed to a five year contract to try and revive the dormant football program at Washington State.

Leach will be paid around two million dollars per year, plus incentives.

Leach was 84-43 in ten years at Texas Tech and led the Red Raiders to ten consecutive bowl appearances.  He was fired in 2009 amid allegations he mistreated a player who was suffering from a concussion.

He replaces Paul Wulff, who was 9-40 in four seasons with the Cougars.

The new Pac-12 television contract, which could mean as much as $20 million to each school, helped pave the way for Washington State to hire Leach.
