Milwaukee catcher Jonathan Lucroy doubled to left field in the bottom half of the fifth inning in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, helping the Brewers to a 2-1 win, while setting a new Major League Baseball record for doubles by a catcher in a single season.

Lucroy's double off Tsuyoshi Wada snapped a 1-1 tie and gave the All-Star his 46th double as a catcher, topping the 45 hit by Texas' Ivan Rodriguez in 1996. Lucroy also has 53 doubles this year, tying the Brewers' franchise record. Seven were hit when he played first base.

It's been quite a year for the former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun. This season, Lucroy is hitting a .299 with 13 home runs and 69 runs batted in, along with a .372 on-base percentage and a .465 slugging percentage.
