Louisiana senior forward Mercedes Johnson has been selected first-team pre-season all Sun Belt Conference by the league's coaches.

Johnson, a senior from Houston, averaged 14.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game a year ago.  She was selected to the All-Sun Belt second team a year ago.  It was the second straight season that Johnson had averages of 14 points and six rebounds.

Denver's Kaetlyn Murdoch and Middle Tennessee's Ebony Rowe were preseason co-players of the year.  Shania Hurst of Arkansas State and Jerica Coley of FIU rounded out the first team selections.

The Cajuns were picked sixth in the Western Division.  Denver was picked to win the west.  Middle Tennessee was the coaches' pick in the East.

The Cajuns will also make a television appearance on the Sun Belt Network against North Texas on February 18th.

The Cajuns open the 2011-12 season Monday November 14 against LSU-Shreveport at Earl K. Long Gym.
