Johnny Manziel has been suspended for the first half of Texas A&M's game against Rice this Saturday.

The school and NCAA issued a joint statement yesterday making the announcement.

The Heisman Trophy winner has been under investigation on charges he received money in exchange for autographing memorabilia.  The statement said there was no evidence Manziel got any payment.

But the organization and the school agreed Manziel had violated NCAA Bylaw 12.5.2.1 which says a student atlhlete cannot have his/her name or likeness used for commercial reasons.

The statement said if new evidence comes to light, the NCAA and the school would act accordingly.
