New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is out 6 to 10 weeks after he was sucker punched in the locker room by teammate IK Enemkpali. Smith's jaw broke in two places.

He was "cold-cocked ... sucker-punched, whatever you want to call it," said Jets head coach Todd Bowles, who broke the news this morning.

When asked to describe the nature of the altercation, Bowles called it "a very childish manner".

Enemkpali, a second year linebacker out of Louisiana Tech, was cut by the team shortly after the incident.

Smith's fractured jaw will require surgery according to Bowles, and New York now turns to journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick to take over as starting quarterback for the time being.
