The Jeanerette Police Chief has now been placed on administrative leave.

The Jeanerette Mayor April Foulcard issued this statement,

"The City Attorney and I have met with Chief Grogan and informed him that he has been placed on paid administrative leave, effectively immediately, pending further investigation into the charges levied against him.  Gloria Lombard will assume the role of interim Chief of Police for our city.
To say the city is shocked to learn of these charges is an understatement, but I want our citizens to know we will cooperate in any manner necessary with the investigation."

 

 

The Lafayette Metro Narcotics Task Force along with Louisiana State Police arrested Jeanerette Police Chief Marvin Grogan on warrants for malfeasance in office and three counts of compounding a felony in connection with the investigation into Lipstick’s Gentleman’s Club.

Grogan was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and will later be taken to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

An eight month investigation into Lipsticks culminated in the execution of a search warrant at the club at 6157 Johnston Street.

A tip led officers their after their was word that juvenile runaway might be working there as a dancing allegedly involved in “lewd acts and prostitution through the club and ‘Backpage’ adds.

Undercover agents did surveillance at the club, and they saw some employees and customers of the club engaging in acts that violate Louisiana’s obscenity and prostitution statutes.  They also saw the use of drugs and sales of alcohol to minors.

Multiple people were arrested in connection with the case.
