Tennessee has dismissed talented defender Janzen Jackson.

Jackson, who began his high school career at Carencro High before his family moved to Lake Charles, has had a troubled career at Tennessee.  Tennessee Coach Derek Dooley would not be specific, but sources told espn.com that Jackson had substance abuse issues and failed multiple drug tests.

Jackson withdrew from the University last spring to deal with what was termed "personal issues."  He was reinstated to the football team but was told there would be a zero-tolerance policy concerning his reinstatement.  Jackson was a second-team all-SEC performer for the Vols last year.

In his freshman season of 2009, Jackson was suspended for a game for violation of team rules.  In November, 2009, he and two teammates were arrested after an armed robbery attempt.  Charges against Jackson were dropped and he was reinstated to the football team.
