The Seattle Seahawks defeated the St. Louis Rams tonight 16-6. With the win, Seattle becomes the first team to win a division title with a losing record. The Saints will play the 7-9 Seahawks this Saturday in the Wild Card playoff round. Kickoff is set for 3:30 in Seattle. Ram rookie QB Sam Bradford didn't get help from his wide receivers, or the officials for that matter. Seattle played a base defense from start to finish, and kept the Rams out of the end zone. Here is more of the game recap from espn.com and the AP.

Backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst threw a 4-yard touchdown on Seattle's first drive, and Olindo Mare kicked second-half field goals of 31, 38 and 34 yards. The Seahawks finished as champs of the NFC West at 7-9, the first playoff team with a losing record -- sans the 1982 strike-shortened season -- since the merger in 1970. It was Seattle's first division title since 2007.

Whitehurst finished 22 of 36 for 192 yards making just the second start of his career. He started in place of Matt Hasselbeck, who was active and went through warmups, but didn't play after suffering a hip injury last week against Tampa Bay.

Certainly the Saints will be favored in the playoff matchup against the Seahawks. However, the short week, long travel, and injury report will all be obstacles the Saints must face this week. Their playoff experience, coupled with their superior roster, should help the Saints overcome any obstacles in the wild card round. The Saints defeated the Seahawks 34-19 back in Week 11 in New Orleans.
