For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Southeastern Conference is expanding.

The league announced today the acceptance of Texas A&M as the SEC's 13th member.

The move had been rumored for several weeks and the league's announcement evidently means the legal ramifications of the Aggies leaving the Big 12 conference have been resolved.

It's the first expansion for the league since Arkansas and South Carolina were added in 1992.

The Aggies will compete in the SEC for the 2012-13 athletic year.
