Is Ryan Zimmerman A $100 Million Player

The Washington Nationals just recently signed third baseman Ryan Zimmerman to a six-year contract extension, worth $100 million.

The 27-year-old Zimmerman is certainly a fine player. He was the fourth-overall pick of the Nationals in the 2005 amateur draft, and one year later, finished runner-up in the 2006 National League Rookie of the Year voting, after batting a .287, with 20 homers, and 110 rbi's.

When healthy, Zimmerman is certainly one of the top third basemen in baseball, hitting 20 or more homers, and driving in 85 or more runs, in four of his first six seasons.

But he also missed approximately 60 games in two of those season due to injury, which should be a concern.

And while Zimmerman has put up numbers, he's never finished in the top-15 in the National League's MVP voting, has only one gold glove to his credit, and has been named to only one All-Star team.

So, our question today is: Was it a wise move by the Nationals to sign Zimmerman to the healthy extension?
