All week long, we will preview one of the big high school football games this week, in the second week of the season.

Today, we take a lot at a non-district match-up on Thursday night featuring the Breaux Bridge Tigers, out of District 5-4A, who will travel to Crowley, to take on the Notre Dame Pioneers, representing District 6-3A.

Breaux Bridge, who was ranked #8 in the LSWA preseason poll, used a powerful defense to help defeat New Iberia, 22-3, in their season opener last week, allowing only 43 yards of total offense, while forcing five turnovers.

Offensively, the Tigers feature a solid running game, with Marquis Demonter, Edward Batiste, and Ruben Hypolite combining for 202 rushing yards against NISH last Friday.

Head coach Paul Brouusard's squad, who went 7-4 a season ago, including a trip to the second round of the LHSAA playoffs, has high hopes for 2014 as well.

Notre Dame, who was ranked 6th in the LSWA preseason poll, captured a 24-14 road win over the Lagrange Gators last week.

Notre Dame only returns two offensive starters, and three defensive starters from last season's 11-1 squad, but one of those starters is quarterback Brad Stoma, who is a solid of a signal-caller as one would find, along with running back Lance Bertrand.

Notre Dame head coach Lewis Cook recorded his 299th career win in the Pioneers win over LaGrange.

This one looks to be one where points will be hard to come by. Notre Dame won last year, 3-0, and with both teams being ground and defensive oriented type of teams, the end zones may be a lonely place on Friday night.
