Heat Win The East
The Miami Heat defeated the Chicago Bulls last night in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals by the score of 83-80. Chicago watched a 12 point lead disappear in the final 3 minutes, as LeBron James and the Heat closed the game on an 18-3 run. Miami will face the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. The two teams faced off for the NBA championship 5 years ago, with the Heat winning the series 4-2. Here is more on the Miami victory from the AP and espn.com.
James scored 28 points, Wade added 21, and they led a furious rally in the final minutes as the Miami Heat eliminated Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls 83-80 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals on Thursday.
James and Wade were simply spectacular down the stretch, each scoring eight during a game-ending 18-3 run as Miami wiped out a 12-point deficit to win the series.
Miami will now play in the NBA Finals. James, Wade, and Chris Bosh joined forces to win an NBA title. All they have left to do is beat the Dallas Mavericks in a best-of-seven series. Easier said than done. Both teams have been outstanding throughout the playoffs, only losing 3 games each this postseason. Now, one of them will lose 4 times.
Four players from the 2006 NBA Finals are still with their respective teams. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry for the Mavs, and Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem for the Heat.
The NBA Finals will begin on Tuesday, with tip-off in Miami set for 8:00.
