Heat Take Down Spurs, Even Series 1-1

San Antonio fed off the home crowd most of the night, but the Spurs faithful couldn’t cool the Heat. Miami defeated San Antonio 98-96 on Sunday night, thanks in large part to a player nicknamed “The King”.

Down 1 late in game 2 of the NBA Finals, Miami Heat forward LeBron James penetrated into the paint where he’d done damage all night to the Spurs. As the defense closed in, James passed to an open Chris Bosh in the corner. Looking good upon its release, the ball swished through the net, giving the Heat the lead, and eventually the victory.

Cramps didn’t come into play this time, as the NBA MVP (James) was on the floor in cruch time.

“Obviously, having No. 6 in the game at the end was a plus for us,” Heat guard Dwyane Wade said.

James was a plus alright. Miami outscored San Antonio by 11 when he was on the floor. After a slow start (1-4, 2 points) in the first quarter, James exploded in the second, finishing with a game-high 35 points and 10 rebounds.

“For me, once I get into a good groove, I feel like everything is going to go in,” James said of his performance.

With the best of seven series tied at 1, game 3 shifts to Miami. Tip-off on Tuesday is set for 8:00.
