This season is testing Ragin' Cajuns Junior Quarterback Brooks Haack, but he's trying to keep the team's head above water.

When you're under center, it helps when you're able to develop a flow. It's been a wild season at the quarterback position all season long, and Haack looks ready to emerge as the lone leader. It's hard not to play the "what if" game at this point in the season, and the fan base can only wonder what could have been if Haack was given full backing throughout the season.

"It's been tough getting chemistry with people when you're in and out," Haack said. He later described his year with the adjectives "rocky" and "shaky."

Haack was elected a team captain for a reason. His off the field demeanor, mixed with the fantastic extracurricular resume are only frosting on the cake. Football IQ aside, Haack gets it. When some might think the season is lost, he's still trying to press the right motivational buttons.

"We're at a time this season where it's fight or flight," Haack said.

Offensively, his chemistry with Jamal Robinson is encouraging. Mixing their connection with Elijah McGuire in the backfield might be enough to propel them to two straight wins to finish out the season. If it doesn't happen, Haack just hopes the youngsters went through the year with open eyes.

Stepping in front of the microphone is part of the leader's role, and Haack spoke from the heart when asked about the ambitions for the future.

"It's going to be a great learning lesson for the younger guys," Haack said. "They need to take great note how things can be when you don't get the job done."

The door is closing on the Cajuns. If they want a postseason game, it will take an inspired effort the last two games. The job is clearly laid out, but can they get it done?
