New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has gotten rid of the walking boot he's been in since suffering a high ankle sprain in the AFC Championship Game.

Officially, he's still listed as "day-to-day" but Gronkowski calls getting rid of the boot "a positive step" in his hopes to play against the New York Giants in the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Gronkowski hasn't practiced since suffering the injury two weeks ago.

He stopped short of guaranteeing he'd play on Sunday, saying he'd leave that to the coaches and trainers.

Gronkowski has been the main story of Super Bowl week so far.  There's no question New England would have a tougher road to the championship if he's unable to go.
