Former STM Cougar Sam Scofield Receives College Football Honor

Sam Scofield, who prepped locally at St. Thomas More, was named the Conference USA defensive player of the week.

Scofield led the Tulane Green Wave to a 14-7 win over Tulsa Saturday, making the Wave bowl eligible for the first time in over a decade.

To say Scofield was active at the Safety position would be an understatement. In Saturday's win, he notched a Conference USA season-high 18 tackles (14 solo, 1.5 for loss), broke up two passes, and forced a crucial fumble in the 4th quarter.

Tulane is 6-2 overall, and 4-0 in conference play. Many pundits believe the Wave will play Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns in the R&L Carrier's New Orleans Bowl December 21rst.
